The REL Board Accumulator is built to remove the board from the line flow, store the board in an indexed vertical stack, and finally placing the board back on the conveyor line. This accumulator has the capacity to empty the entire dryer to eliminate the risk of fire. The conveyor consists of line-shaft driven rollers to move the board through the conveyor unit, and sprocket-driven chain elevator arms on both sides of the conveyor. The elevator arms lift the board from both sides, providing adequate support for the entire board. The accumulator has the capacity to store 35 boards.

Servo Belt Shelf Accumulator and Squaring
REL’s Servo Belt Shelf Accumulator and Squaring line module was designed to accumulate flipped pairs of a product. The number of flipped pairs accumulated is selected by the operator before each product run. This piece of equipment is all servo motor driven to meet the demanding cycle rate of 0.45 seconds per flipped pairs and 2 seconds of package squaring. Operating throughput for this design is 15M square feet per month. This equipment has been in use for 5 years and has met the customer ROI in saved downtime costs and increased production capabilities.
Cylinder Shelf Accumulator and Squaring
To accommodate the option of a split product stream REL developed the Cylinder Shelf Accumulator and Squaring module. This module can accumulate two streams of 2’x2’ product or one stream of 2’x4’ product. To switch between the two running options fences and guides are actuated up to create two separate streams of product upon recipe insertion on the HMI. REL also had to split their Face-2-Face flipper design to accommodate this two-stream option.
The cylinder shelf design allows the shelves to be retracted upon placing an accumulated stack in the squaring area and the servo elevator then lifts them up into the catch position. The shelf cylinders are not extended immediately because there are 2 carriages per stream, front and back. Once the front shelves are done accumulating a stack, it descends to the squaring position, which tells the back shelves to extend and start accumulating another stack. The squaring is done by linear actuators from the sides and inline. Once squaring is complete, the packages are ejected via belt conveyor to the traffic area where they are placed back into one stream for the sleeving portion of the process.
Engineered for Integration: PLC Controls & Custom Control Panels
Our iREL equipment is provided with the control systems that integrate into the customers control scheme. Whether the plant has a central DCS or the equipment needs to be controlled locally, REL has a control solution for the application. REL’s control engineers design a control system to fit the needs of your systems. A PLC controls and monitors each module or station within an iREL equipment system. The integrated touch HMI terminal allows for an entire system to be controlled by a single person.
REL also performs panel assembly, testing, complete system documentation and installation. UL Listing of complete panels is also available.
REL tests the system’s functionality in-house before tear down and shipment to your location. This allows for a faster setup time at the customer facility, and allows for more valuable training time for operators and maintenance personnel
