REL's Serpentine Bar Technology

REL’s serpentine striker technology uses a patented design consisting of a series of layered concentric tubes that multiply the striker pulse length by the number of layers. A fold factor of 2-3 is typically achievable. For example, the pulse length achieved with a 14” serpentine striker bar is equivalent to a 32” long conventional compression or tension striker bar. Serpentine striker bars can be launched at nearly the same speed as the standard striker bars. Serpentine strikers can be launched from shorter barrels and can be used in existing systems to lower achievable strain rates or increase strain energy at a given rate.
